I was, shockingly, in a bookstore and I saw a book about cybersecurity. The premise of the author seemed to be that many of our security problems are caused by our insistence on and overvaluing of privacy. You can't blackmail someone who is an open book. It seems that much of what he was saying depended upon society-wide practices of openness. I'm not sure how an individual would pull it off given our current cultural climate. I put the book down with some wistfulness, judging that I already have too many things to read.

I don't remember where I encountered this, exactly. It was probably Ryan Holiday's podcast. The stoic idea about chores is that they present an opportunity to practice excellence. The repetetive nature of doing the dishes and making the bed is a feature not a bug.

I'm off to practice being excellent.
